TOUR DE FRANCE STAGE 21 BETTING PREVIEW

German sprinters have benn dominant in recent years on the Champs-Elysees. Last year André Greipel confirmed his status by taking his fourth stage win ahead of Bryan Coquard. In 2014, Marcel Kittel took his second consecutive win on the famous avenue when he narrowly held off Alexander Kristoff in a close sprint. One year earlier he had broken Mark Cavendish’s winning streak in a fantastic battle against the Brit and André Greipel.

With Mark Cavendish having withdrawn from the race to focus on the Olympics, the bunch sprint is likely to come down to a fight between Marcel Kittel, André Greipel and Bryan Coquard (Direct Energie)

Several sprinters remain winless in this year’s Tour de France — including Andre Greipel, who won four stages last year. The final stage is a perfect opportunity for one to end the Tour on a high note. The Lotto Soudal train is intact and on paper it is the best train here.

Marcel Kittel is a pure sprinter and this finish suits him more than other direct contenders. The German has contested the sprint in Paris twice and he has won on both occasions. However, he has failed to feature in a number of sprints

Bryan Coquard has come close to win on several occasions, but he still has not managed to grab a victory. He finished second in this stage. As always, the positioning will be a challenge as the loss of Angelo Tulik means that his train is far less strong than the best.

Alexander Kristoff, who won two stages in the 2014 Tour de France, has gone winless so far. He’s been improving steadily throughout this year’s Tour, and narrowly lost Stage 16 to Peter Sagan by the width of a tire.

The sprint suits John Degenkolb down to the ground. He likes this kind of slightly uphill power sprint and his performances in the last two sprints prove that he is getting closer to his best level.

Peter Sagan has been on the podium on all the bunch sprint he contested. Despite he attacked in almost all the stages he could be fresher than his rivals. The Slovakian has not had much luck in Paris in the last two years. However, he was still second in 2012 and fourth in 2013.

Dark horses?

We don't see tons of long shots. Dylan Groenewegen, Daniel McLay, Sondre Holst Enger and Sam Bennett are the only riders that could go for a top 3 placement.
