MICHAEL VAN GERWEN v GARY ANDERSON : Betting preview Michael Van Gerwen was given a tough semifinal test, coming through a thriller against Dave Chisnall to win 4-2. The Dutchman averaged just under 100. Prior to that, he has also been given a couple of scares along the way by Steve Beaton and Simon Whitlock in previous rounds. Anyway, has now reached the final of his last seven televised tournament campaigns and is eyeing an astonishing 21st title of the season.
Gary Anderson was below par in his quarter-final win over Kim Huybrechts but weathered an early Raymond van Barneveld flourish to see off the Dutchman 4-1, almost averaging 99. The Scot has dropped just three sets en route to the final, brushing aside Jamie Caven and Kyle Anderson, before coming from a set down to defeat Huybrechts. The Flying Scotsman claimed his second successive PDC World Championship title in January this year but the back-to-back world champion has yet to stamp his mark on the other majors
Gary Anderson and Michael Van Gerwen have never met in a PDC ranking final but the Scot came out on top when they met in the Premier League final a couple of years ago. In total, MVG has won 21 of their 34 encounters in all competitions, including an 11-5 rout in the Semi-Finals of the recent Champions League.
