World Cup Group With Most Goals Betting Tips
- Written by David Bet
The World Cup is all about goals. Some of the world’s best strikers will be touching down in Russia this summer and we can expect more goals than ever before. Which World Cup group will see the most goals scored?
With some dodgy defences out there, combined with in-form strikers, makes it almost certain the net is going to be bursting. But which group will see the most goals?
We take a look at each group, along with the chances of it being the one with the highest number of goals…
The chance of the net being found frequently is enhanced by the opposition the two nations will face.
Belgium and England are comfortable favourites to qualify from Group G and are predicted to get plenty of goals against minnows Tunisia and Panama.
Both countries will offer very little and you’d expect both Roberto Martinez and Gareth Southgate will be conscious of goal difference before playing each other in the final Group G fixture.
The Russians will get the group underway against Saudi Arabia and the nation will expect a dominant performance.
In another country on another night, that game may not produce the goods, but there is intense pressure on the Russians to qualify for the knockout stages, meaning they will have to score.
As for Suarez, he’s already five World Cup goals to his name and will be looking to build on that and propel Uruguay to the latter stages.
They’re favourites to do so, and we’d back them to score a couple against the likes of Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
The French will undoubtedly top score in the group, with the likes of Pogba and Mbappe licking their lips at facing Australia and Peru.
Neither are bad sides though and alongside Denmark it could be a real battle for second place and qualification. That could create one of two things, tight, closely fought games with nothing in them, or real thrillers with open play and a “we’ll score more than you” attitude. We’d expect the former.
Still, there’s plenty of players who can find the net in this group. Christian Eriksen will be a player to watch after another fabulous season with Spurs, providing both goals and assists.
The Spanish have an incredible amount of strength in scoring goals, while Morocco have the second longest unbeaten streak behind the 2010 winners.
Then there’s Cristiano Ronaldo. He’s a man that wants to win everything, yet is without the World Cup or the top scorers crown. He’ll be fancied to be the difference against a number of teams and we expect the game against Spain to be full of goals.
The Spanish beat Argentina 6-1 in March. If that’s not a sign of intent, we’re not sure what is.
It’s no real surprise that the bookies therefore expect this to be a fairly low scoring one. They haven’t actually scored more than one goal in a game in 2018 yet, and haven’t won either. So do be careful before you lump your house on the current World Champions.
Elsewhere, Sweden are without the man who scored them so many goals down the years, Zlatan, while Mexico’s main man Javier Hernandez has been left floundering at West Ham.
The Germans do have the ability to switch it on when necessary though. They hammered Brazil in the Semi Final of the 2014 tournament and in Thomas Muller have one of the finest World Cup scorers in history.
While Serbia won’t exactly be throwing the kitchen sink at the tournament, Brazil should, on paper, be scoring heavily against the likes of the Serbians and Costa Rica.
On the other hand, Costa Rica caused a few surprises four years ago and do have a goal in them on the counter attack.
Switzerland may also add value to the goalscoring market. Stoke’s Xherdan Shaqiri has scored at major tournaments before, while Dinamo Zagreb forward, Mario Gavranovic has had a decent record in front of goal this season.
Perhaps a dark horse to finish the top scoring Group, Brazil won’t feel threatened so will play with freedom.
Which could make it a rather cagey group. Iceland proved they were organised at Euro 2016, but despite making it to the Quarter Final, never won a game by more than one goal.
Croatia haven’t proved to be high scorers either, although they did bag four in the playoffs against Greece to qualify.
We expect this one to be a low scoring one. The Argentinians may well cash in against Nigeria, and possibly Iceland if they can’t replicate the same spirit as two years ago, but otherwise we expect tight, edgy games with just the one goal in them.
The battle for qualification is likely to be between the three nations represented above, with Colombia and Poland favourites.
Senegal have drawn their last three fixtures, scoring only one in the process which may put a dampener on that wager, but Lewandowski has bagged 41 this season, Falcao has 24 and Mane has been lethal for Liverpool with 20. So there’s certainly goals in this group.

We take a look at each group, along with the chances of it being the one with the highest number of goals…
World Cup Group With Most Goals Tips
Group G - 10/3
England’s group has the biggest chance of seeing goals according to the UK’s best bookmakers. With Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling netting 64 between them in all competitions, along with Jamie Vardy’s 23, and the Belgians having Romelu Lukaku, Eden Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne, goals are a given.
Group A - 5/1
The bookies are certainly thinking about player power in Group A with Mo Salah, Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani all featuring in the opening group.
Group C - 5/1
Most of the goals in Group C will come from the French, and perhaps even Antoine Griezmann, a talent who is among the firm favourites in the odds to win the Golden Boot.
Group B - 5/1
Of the three 5/1 shots with Paddy Power, Group B is our World Cup prediction when it comes to the most goals.
Group F - 11/2
The Germans look as though they will remain comfortable throughout Group F. They’re joint favourites to lift the World Cup this summer and it’s unlikely they will really have to flex their muscles until the latter stages.
Group E - 6/1
It’s a surprise to see the bookies not backing a high scoring group when Brazil are favourites to win it.While Serbia won’t exactly be throwing the kitchen sink at the tournament, Brazil should, on paper, be scoring heavily against the likes of the Serbians and Costa Rica.
Group D - 7/1
Argentina’s group is certainly an open one. While most will be expecting Jorge Sampaoli’s men to take the number one position in Group D, most Russia 2018 predictions are torn between Croatia and Iceland for second spot.Which could make it a rather cagey group.
Group H - 9/1
At 9/1, Group H could be well worth a Russia 2018 free bet. It seems remarkable value given the group will be home to Robert Lewandowski, Radamel Falcao, Sadio Mane and Brazil 2014’s Golden Boot Winner James Rodriguez.
