What days do England play in the World Cup 2022?
England are guaranteed to play at least three matches at the World Cup 2022. The Three Lions will feature on the second day with their Group B match against Iran - a side they have never faced in a senior competitive international - scheduled to take place just eight days after the Premier League shuts down on Monday November 21 with a 1pm UK time kick-off.
Then, Gareth Southgate's men will face USA four days later and will conclude the group-stage with a British derby as the Three Lions play against Wales on Nov. 29.
Group Fixtures & Key Dates
England vs Iran: 1pm, Monday, November 21 (Khalifa International Stadium, Al Rayyan)
England vs United States: 7pm, Friday, November 25 (Al Bayt Stadium, Al Khor)
Wales vs England: 7pm, Tuesday, November 29 (Ahmad bin Ali Stadium, Al Rayyan)
*England were initially due to play Iran on the opening day of the tournament – Monday, November 21.
Who will England play if they win their group World Cup 2022?
If Gareth Southgate's boys were to win Group B, their round-of-16 match would take place at Al Bayt Stadium, Al Khor, on December 4 and see England paired against runners up in Group A - Qatar, Ecuador, Senegal, or Netherlands.
Then, the Three Lions could face world champions France in the quarter-finals at the Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor on December 10, providing Les Blues topped their group and overcame potentially Argentina, Mexico or Poland in the last 16.
In the semifinals, Belgium or Portugal could stand between the Three Lions and a place in the World Cup final on December 14, where England could find outright favorites Brazil.
England's route to World Cup glory as Group B winner could pit them against Senegal (or Ecuador), France (or Argentina), Belgium (or Portugal) and Brazil if they finish as group winners at Qatar 2022.
Who will England play if they finish as runners-up in Group B?
If England finish as runners-up in Group B, this would set up a clash between the winner of Group A, probably Netherlands, with that round-of-16 tie taking place at the Khalifa International Stadium, Al Rayyan on December 3.
Should they progress to the last-8 round, England could be paired with Argentina or Denmark in a very interesting quarter final. The Lusail Iconic Stadium will play host here.
Their journey to the World Cup last-4 could then continue with a heavyweight semi-final against Spain, Germany or Brazil.
Should England reach the final day of the Qatar World Cup, France are their likely contenders. Portugal and Belgium are viable alternatives.
England's route to become World Champions after finishing as Group B runners-up could pit them against Netherlands, Argentina (or Denmark), Spain (or Germany, or Brazil) and France (or Portugal, or Belgium) if they qualify as 2nd placed in Group B.
Who can England face in the Qatar World Cup 2022?
After the three group games against Iran, United States and Wales.
Hence, England must navigate three group-stage matches and then three knockout games to have any chance of getting their hands on the much coveted trophy in the 2022 World Cup final in Doha on December 18, 2022.
How England progress to the knockout rounds - either as top of the group or 2nd placed - will detemine their potential route.
The following are two possibile routes to the final (teams that can potentially face England):
England Win Group B
Last 16: Senegal (or Ecuador)
Quarter Final: France (or Argentina)
Semis: Belgium (or Portugal)
Final: Brazil
England Runners Up in Group B
Last 16: Netherlands
Quarter Final: Argentina (or Denmark)
Semi Final: Spain (or Germany, or Brazil)
FIFA World Cup Final: France (or Portugal, or Belgium)
*The World Cup final will be played at the Lusail Iconic Stadium in Doha a week before Christmas on Sunday December 18.
What time in UK Will World Cup games be played?
The first two rounds of matches will kick off at 1pm, 4pm, 7pm and 10pm local time (10am, 1pm, 4pm and 7pm in the UK).
Kick-off times for the final round of group-stage fixtures and knockout-round games will be 6pm and 10pm local time (3pm and 7pm UK time).
The World Cup 2022 final is scheduled to kick off at 6pm local time (3pm UK time)
What are the odds of England winning the FIFA World Cup 2022?
Gareth Southgate's England made their way to the semi-finals at Russia 2018, before reaching a final on home soil at Euro 2020 (the tournament was played in 2021) when they lost on penalties to Italy.
However, a miserable run of results in the Nations League may have affected confidence and that has caused their World Cup 2022 winner odds to drift.
The Three Lions failed to win a single match in that competition (suffering two heavy defeats at the hands of Hungary) and were relegated in the League B.
They are now 4th favorites to lift the trophy in Middle East, according to odds offered by the top betting sites before the tournament kicks off with the opening game between hosts Qatar and Ecuador (Al-Bayt Stadium, Al Khor; kick off 10am).
At time of writing, England are priced 10/1 to win with 10Bet, despite a troubled Nations League campaign which saw them relegated from the top tier.
SportNation have the next bets odds on the Three Lions to become world champions (9/1) while Unibet are pricing them at 17/2, followed by SportingIndex (8/1).
Brazil are the World Cup outright favorites to win the World Cup while France and Argentina make the top 3.
