2015 EUROVISION SONG CONTEST BETTING PREVIEW
Eurovision 2015 starts May 19th with the first semi-final and will be followed on May 21st with the second semi-final. As defending champion, Austria are automatically qualified for the finals as are France, Germany, Spain, Italy and the United Kingdom.
It’s no surprise Sweden is favourite. Such a short price is probably explained more by the fanatical support Mans Zelmerlow had in winning Melodifestivalen. Part of the song’s appeal is the fancy graphics involved but the son itself is average.
Italy have a good chance this year with Il Volo singing Grande Amore. They win the "San Remo Festival" few months ago and this song is very popular in Italy. It is a great choice of music and really represents the country of Italy with true passion.
Australia will make their first ever appearance on the show this year in 2015 with the very talented Guy Sebastian representing them and singing "Tonight Again". He started singing at the age of 14 and is the only male Australian artist to have ever gained 6 number one's in the Australian charts.
Russia are one of the favourites with "A Million Voices" by Polina Gagarina. She is a singer, a songwriter and an actress. She's got a powerful voice and the staging looks spectacular. The song is also brilliant and highly dramatic.
Estonia do hold a great chance of winning this year thanks to Elina Born and Stig Rasta. They will sing the popular 'Goodbye To Yesterday' which Stig had written a few years ago before he even met Elina. The online voting on Eurovision-fr.net, one of the most popular websites dedicated to pan-European song contest in France, predicts that Estonian entry will win this year's competition.
Currently around 7th favourite to win, Norway's interesting dark ballad with called A Monster Like Me made an immediate impression.
Finland are relying on the punk band Pertti Kurikan Nimipaivat, performing the song Aina Mun Pitaa. The band include four talented artists all middle-aged and mentally handicapped. They are extremely talented and popular in their country.
Slovenia is one of the big fan favourites this year while Belgium compete with 17-year-old Loïc Nottet's. His song "Rhythm Inside" is punchy and funky but we believe it has no chance to win.
Greece will also be interesting. A power ballad is unusual for them, and Maria-Elena has promised a dignified performance.
This year's British entry is new duo Electio Velvet, made of X Factor and The Voice auditionee Bianca Nicholas and Rolling Stones tribute band member Alex Larke. Their peppy, electro-swing number, Still In Love With You, has had the nation reasonably divided
Ann Sophie will compete for Germany. Her song about heartbreak, Black Smoke, will be performed in a stark, black and white theme, which is probably really intense and profound.
Elhaida Dani won The Voice of Italy in 2013, (the Italian version of The Voice UK, which is in turn based on the original Dutch concept), but will now represent her home country of Albania at Eurovision. Her "I'm Alive" is an interesting pop-ballad.
Molly Sterling will represent Ireland with her track ‘Playing With Numbers’. She is a self-taught pianist and singer, and will apparently eschew classic Eurovision glitz and glamour for a more stripped back, soulful kind of performance. It's a very good song, with a rude woman’s voice, good motive.
At long odds there’s some surprises, notably Denmark, Romania and possibly Spain. Another major surprise could come from Malta. Amber is just 23 and succeeded in winning the Maltese ticket with her entry Warrior. This ballad falls somewhere between Jessie J and Beyonce.
